PLACES TO VISIT

PORT GRIMAUD – Approx 2 miles from the apartment. Here you can take a waterbus to see around the canals or you can hire your own small boat. There are numerous restaurants and bars and a nice beach.
Grimaud - A nice place to go for breakfast or lunch (le Patisserie de Chateau) – when coming into Grimaud take the first right, go up the hill and carry round to your left. You will then go round a left hand bend – the patisserie is on your RHS. You can also walk up to the old castle, which has wonderful views of the bay.
ST Tropez - Market day is Tuesday and Saturday – best to go before 10.30 am, as it gets very busy. You can either park at the PORT or PLACES DES LICES (the port carpark is bigger). From the Port the market is up the street beside the Celio shop. Senequeirs is also nice for breakfast on market day. Most of the shops are open to lunchtime and then re open from 4 to about 9. From opposite the Café de Paris on the waterfront you can go on boat trips along the coastline, you can also get a ferry across to St Maxime or Port Grimaud.

HYRES – The old town is worth a visit, again most shops close from lunchtime. If you park in the CENTRE VILLE you won’t be too far from a very large square. From here the old town is adjacent. To get to Hyres you head in the direction of Cogolin and follow the signs from there.

GRAND VAR - Here there are loads of shops – IKEA, PRINTEMPS, DECATHLON (ALL SPORTS) ETC – to get here you follow the signs for HYRES. Carry straight on until you come to SORTIE 7 (LA CRAU), turn off here and follow the signs for La Garde. You stay on this road through junctions/ lights etc until you see a sign for DECATHLON on you RHS – turn up this road and you’re there.

CANNES/NICE/ANTIBES – you will travel on the A8 when going to the Apt. You go in the opposite direction if going to these – follow the signs for the A8 from ST Maxime or alternatively if you’re in no hurry its nice to go the coast road through Frejus, St Raphael etc although it would take some time to get to Nice. If parking in Cannes head for La Crosette, which is, were the Festival happens, from here you can find several carparks close by (the best one is probably passed La Crossette on the point) – heading in the direction of La Bocca it’s about ½ mile from the Festival Theatre.

PETIT VILLAGE – This is a touristy shop where you can buy Wines, olive oils, books, lavender and gift packs – its wine selection is very good – CHATEAU PAMPELONNE is tops in both red and rose but all of their wine is very good. Go passed the Geant Casino heading for Cogolin it is just passed the turnoff after the roundabout on the LHS.

L’AMPHORE – Going into Cogolin from St Tropez approx 200yds from the roundabout you will see L’Amphore on your RHS. You can buy all the best wines here and if you buy 6 of any kind you get it at the same price as the vineyard!
