Formally
known as the French Riviera, the Côte d'Azur has been
attracting visitors from all over the world for over 100 years.
This is mainly due to its favourable climate and
geography: 300 sunny days, an average daily temperature of 16°C,
and short but periodical rain-showers. Thanks to the Esterel massif,
the Côte d'Azur is protected from the mistral wind, which
can be problematic in the neighbouring region of Provence.
Nice’s climate is generally mild and temperate
throughout the year. The sea breezes moderate temperature fluctuations,
keeping Nice warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Daily
average temperatures reach as high as 80 degrees Fahrenheit in July
and August and as low as 42 degrees Fahrenheit in January.
