Thanks to the Esterel massif, the Côte d'Azur is protected from the mistral wind, which can be problematic in the neighbouring region of Provence.

Nice’s climate is generally mild and temperate throughout the year. The sea breezes moderate temperature fluctuations, keeping Nice warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Daily average temperatures reach as high as 80 degrees Fahrenheit in July and August and as low as 42 degrees Fahrenheit in January.
